150K-W Laser Sensor and Helios Pro Industrial Power Meter
MKS Instruments introduces the Ophir® 150K-W sensor for reliable measurement of very high laser powers up to 150 kW. The high-power sensor provides exceptionally precise and reliable measurements. Laser powers between 10 kW and 150 kW can be measured with the water-cooled thermal sensor over the spectral range of 900 to 1100 nm. An extremely low backscatter of less than 0.5% increases safety during the measurement process. The Ophir 150K-W high-power sensor consists of a beam dump and the measurement unit, and addresses the continuously increasing laser powers both in industrial lasers and in the field of Directed Energy. It provides valuable results in the development and testing of new high-power fiber lasers as well as in welding and cutting in industrial production. Visitors of the Lamiera fair in Milano can learn about the new sensor in person at the MKS I Ophir stand G18 in hall 15.
The Ophir 150K-W Very High Power Sensor includes two components: a beam dump to handle high-power laser absorption and heat dissipation, and a unit to measure power levels. The measurement unit is equipped with an RS232 interface and a “Smart Connector” interface that operates with the company’s Centauri, StarBright, StarLite and other Ophir smart displays; Juno and Juno+ compact USB PC interfaces; Juno-RS, Pulsar, and Quasar virtual power and energy meters; and EA-1 Ethernet adapter. The 150K-W Very High Power Sensor is designed with flexibility in mind. Cooling options include the use of tap water or deionized (DI) water. The sensor features a 200mm aperture. A compact unit, the sensor measures 520 x 545 x 750mm and weighs under 60kg without water.
MKS Instruments, Inc., has announced the Ophir® Helios Pro industrial power meter. An expanded version of the Ophir Helios Plus laser power meter, the Helios Pro is a robust, compact device for measuring high-power lasers, including diode, fiber, and Nd:YAG, with power ranges from 100W to 12kW, and wavelengths from 450-550nm (blue/green) to 900-1100nm (infrared). An exceptional device, the Helios Pro industrial power meter can monitor pulse shape during measurement and compensate for the effects of slow pulse rise time; this means it delivers accurate measurements even when the laser does not have a sharp rise/fall time. In addition, a new shutter mechanism allows for mounting in any orientation while still protecting the sensor from dust and debris. A diffuser option supports power measurements of small beams in restricted spaces while close to the focal plane. The Helios Pro industrial power meter also provides a fast 3s response time, a short 12s wait between consecutive measurements at maximum energy, and has the ability to make multiple measurements before device cool-down. PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCat, and RS232 communication options make it easy to integrate into manufacturing networks. Ideal for Li-Ion battery welding and other high-power laser-based applications, once integrated into the production control system, fully automated measurements can be made. Visitors to the LAMIERA trade fair in Milan can learn about the new sensor in person at the MKS I Ophir stand G18 in hall 15.
